Fulford Cemetery

Located on Fordlands Road, Fulford Cemetery is owned and maintained by Fulford Parish Council.

It is the main burial site for the City of York and is open to people of all faiths and from any area.

The site has 28 acres of open-plan lawned cemetery, maintained to a very high standard bordered by trees and characterised by an open, carefully maintained layout.

There are separate areas for Muslim and Jewish faiths, a separate area for children and facilities for the burial of cremated remains.

There is a large military section which together with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission is maintained to a very high standard and contains the graves of military personnel who lost their lives whilst serving in World War I & II.

The grounds were extended in 2004 thus enabling Fulford Cemetery to serve the Fulford and York community for many decades to come. Included within the extended site is a natural burial ground which offers an environmentally friendly alternative to the traditional burial. Please contact the cemetery for more details.

Day to day management of the Cemetery is in the hands of the Superintendent, Mr Stuart McCabe who is assisted by a team of four full time groundsmen. The Parish Council is pleased to offer a friendly and accessible service to everyone and its Staff are always ready and willing to help visitors to the Cemetery.
